New Skoda Elroq unveiled at Prague — Likely to arrive in India next year

Skoda Auto has unveiled the 2024 Skoda Elroq compact electric SUV at its homebase in Prague. Along with revealing the design of the Elroq, Skoda has also released key specifications of the same. Already on sale in Europe, the Elroq is also likely to make its way to the Indian market sometime next year. Here’s everything you need to know about this new electric car from the Czech automaker.
Skoda Elroq – What is it?
The Elroq is an electric compact-SUV from Skoda Auto that was unveiled to the public on October 1, 2024. Based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the Elroq has debuted with multiple battery and motor combinations. Notably, the Elroq is the first car to feature Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language.
Battery and motor combinations
The Skoda Elroq has initially been launched with a choice of three powertrain combinations, namely Elroq 50, Elroq 60, and Elroq 85. All these trims get a rear-mounted electric motor. An all-wheel drive 85x trim with two electric motors shall also be available, though the same is not hitting the shelves this year.

Skoda Elroq design and styling
As you must have known by now, the Elroq features Skoda’s new ‘Modern Solid’ design language. It gets sleek and segmented DRLs with inverted-L shaped headlamps, along with rear lights that resemble those of the Enyaq. There’s a blacked-out closed front grille that sits below the SKODA lettering in place of the iconic winged logo. The car measures 4,488mm in length and has a wheelbase of 2,765mm.

Elroq SUV interior and features
Coming to the inside of the cabin, the Elroq features an uncluttered dashboard layout with sleek surfaces. There’s a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system at the centre, along with physical buttons down below for basic controls (appreciate that, Skoda). A digital driver’s display is also tucked neatly behind the rather immaculate steering wheel. In terms of safety features, the Elroq gets options for up to nine airbags, ADAS, and more.

New Skoda Elroq India launch timeline
Skoda has already launched the Elroq in European markets and is considering bringing the EV to India as well. If the decision is finalised, we could see the Elroq reach our shores sometime in 2025.
