Mahindra has launched the all-new XEV 9e at its facility in Chennai, along with the new Mahindra BE 6e. Marking a milestone for the Indian carmaker, the XEV 9e is among the first set of BEVs developed by Mahindra. While the XEV 9e is loosely based on the XUV700, it sits on a completely new platform, has a redesigned exterior, as well as a new interior. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Mahindra XEV 9e electric SUV.
INGLO platform
The 2025 Mahindra XEV 9e is underpinned by Mahindra’s new global modular skateboard platform, the INGLO, which is short for INdian GLObal. The platform is a key differentiator that makes this new range of SUVs stand apart from retrofitted EVs such as the XUV400. Mahindra has partnered with the Volkswagen Group to leverage their expertise as well as share components from their MEB platform.
Battery and motor specifications
The XEV 9e will be available with the choice of a 59kWh battery pack and a 79kWh battery pack. Both these battery packs are sourced from BYD, and will be offered with a lifetime warranty. The XEV 9e is powered by a 286PS rear-mounted electric motor with a torque output of 380Nm. 0-100kmph time is claimed to be just 6.8 seconds.

Design and dimensions
The Mahindra XEV 9e stands tall like its ICE sibling albeit with a sloping roofline. It gets a downward-facing C-shaped connected light bar at the front end along with Mahindra’s new logo for its lineup of electric vehicles. The rear features a similar trend in terms of the layout for the lights. There’s a large Mahindra logo at the centre, along with the ‘XEV 9e’ badging, both of which occupy a major chunk of real estate at the rear. The car gets flush door handles and aerodynamic wheels to reduce drag.

Range and charging time
The claimed WLTP range for the XEV 9e with the 79kWh battery pack stands at 533 kilometres. Mahindra claims a range of 500+ kilometres as per its in-house testing procedure. 20% to 80% charging time has been claimed to be 20 minutes via a 175kW DC fast charger.
Interior and features
As suggested by spy shots earlier, the cabin of the XEV 9e gets a triple screen layout while the BE 6e gets a dual setup. Accompanying the panels is a 1400-watt 16-speaker sound system that has apparently been developed with inputs from AR Rahman and Richard King. There’s a head-up display, an illuminated glass roof that can change colours, driving modes, radar and camera-based Level-2 ADAS suite, 7 airbags, automatic headlamps, tilt and telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel, reclining rear seats, and more.
