Hyundai Motor Corporation has just revealed its top-of-the-range electric SUV — the Ioniq 9 — and there’s a lot to talk about. Based on the same Electric Global Modular Platform as other Hyundai and Kia electric cars, it looks nothing like the EV9, to which it is closely related. Boasting tons of space inside the cabin and the latest of technology, Hyundai aims to revolutionise the full-size SUV segment with this new EV. Here’s more information about the new Hyundai Ioniq 9 electric SUV.
Ioniq 9 Design And Dimensions
The key talking point of the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 9 is its design and styling. It looks starkly different from the Kia EV9, which is Kia’s full-size SUV based on the same skateboard platform. Rather than an expected edgy design, the Ioniq 9 is curvy. It gets a sloping roof line and an upward moving character line lower down the side, making it look a bit like a raindrop rather than a box. The rear door panel gives a throwback to that of the Ioniq 5, and the multi spoke wheels express a contrasting retro feature. There are pixels scattered across the exterior (as well as the interior), very typical of Hyundai’s Ioniq line of cars. The front gets a horizontal light bar while the rear gets two vertical ones that are joined by an arch at the top.

Range And Charging Time
Hyundai claims a WLTP range of 620 kilometres, while the claimed EPA range stands at 539 kilometres. Claimed charging time from 10% to 80% is an impressive 24 minutes, though you would need a 350kW DC fast charger to do so.
Interior And Features
The Ioniq 9 has been designed to provide a lounge-like experience inside the cabin; an increasing trend in electric cars. It features three rows of seating, with rotating second row seats. The seats also get a massage function. In terms of features, there’s a panoramic sunroof, dual-curved screens on the dashboard, multi-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, and unnecessary cameras that replace the ORVMs. It gets 10 airbags and an ADAS suite. These lists, quite obviously, aren’t exhaustive. The 2025 Ioniq 9 gets V2L capability that is also seen on the EV9.
