New BMW M5 price in India starts at Rs 2 crore — What’s new?
- 1Gets a V8 hybrid engine that puts out 737PS of max power
- 2Can reach triple digit speeds in 3.5 seconds
- 3Gets a polarising design and additional weight due to the hybrid setup
The rather controversial BMW M5 has made its way to India, and has been launched at a price of Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The seventh generation of the BMW M5 takes a huge leap forward in terms of design, powertrain, and more, but it still retains the 4.4-litre V8 engine. What’s new then, you ask? Well, a lot. Here’s all that you need to know about the new BMW M5.
2025 BMW M5
The BMW M5 has been the dream car for many of us enthusiasts, and BMW has recently given the M5 a generational update. Featuring a brand new design and a hybridised eight-cylinder petrol unit, the new M5 boasts of increased power, increased torque, and increased weight.
Hybrid V8 engine
The new M5 retains the 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, but it now gets a hybridised setup. The combined output figures stand at 737PS of maximum power and 1,000Nm of peak torque. The V8 is mated to an 8-speed torque convertor transmission, and the car comes in a AWD configuration. While the hybrid setup and the added weight has been a topic of discussion, we’re glad that the M5 hasn’t (yet) been a victim of downsizing.

Acceleration and top speed
Acceleration time from standstill to 100kmph is claimed to be 3.5 seconds, and the top speed has been limited to 250kmph, which can be pushed to 305kmph with the optional M Driver’s Package. The updated M5 also claims to have an electric-only range of 69 kilometres (we see what you did there, BMW).
Design
On the design front, the M5 is essentially an aggressive-looking 5-Series. It gets M-badges scattered all over to differentiate it from a regular 5-Series. The front air intake has also been redesigned, so have the rocker panels, and the carbon fibre roof. There are quad-exhaust pipes located at the rear along with a rear diffuser. And the wheels, they're different too.

Interior and features
The cabin of the BMW M5 is covered in leather, which can be specced in multiple themes. There’s a large curved infotainment scream tilted towards the driver, along with a digital driver’s display. In case you want a break from the sweet-sounding V8, there’s an 18-speaker Bowers & Wilkins surround system with a 655 watt amplifier. There are plenty of M-specific touches that make the M5 stand apart from a regular 5-Series.
