BMW India is all set to launch the new eighth-generation 5 Series luxury sedan in India. The new 5 Series will launch in India on 27 July and will be only offered in the Long Wheel Base (LWB) version. This Mercedes-Benz E-Class rivalling BMW sedan has undergone a complete update in terms of design, comfort, and performance. So, what to expect from the upcoming 2024 BMW 5 Series sedan? New-Gen BMW 5-Series Design & Features

 

The new 5-Series will debut in its LWB avatar first in India. The standard variants are likely to follow in the coming months. For a quick reference, its direct rival, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, is also offered in a LWB version only. Speaking about the design changes, the upcoming 5-Series, internally codenamed G60, will get sharp design cues to give it a dominating character. The front has now become more aggressive with new C-shaped LED DRLs and projector lights while BMW has also revised the signature kidney grille with illuminated backlit and brushed aluminium highlights on it. The front bumper is also redesigned and features prominent cuts to accommodate the lower air dam.

As far as the new-gen BMW 5 Series dimensions are concerned, the LWB version is 5.7 metres in length, thus, giving the car a stupendous road presence. The side profile has also undergone a massive change, all thanks to the new machine-cut dual-tone alloy wheels and the big 5-Series badge on the C-pillar; cumulatively providing it a premium appeal. The rear-end design is now inspired by the big limo 7-Series. A similar set of taillight designs along with a revised boot lid and bumper look refreshing on the new 2024 BMW 5 Series.

 

On the inside, the cabin design has been upgraded with new leather upholstery and a tan-brown shade. The dashboard now houses a bigger 14.9-inch floating infotainment screen that has connected tech like Geo-fencing, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and more. Moreover, the 12.3-inch digital instrument console is also new with futuristic graphics. This console provides a plethora of personalized features that the users can operate on the go.

As the 5 Series LWB is meant for a chauffeur-driven experience, the rear seats are redesigned for better comfort. Additionally, the rear passengers get a foldable 31.1-inch display embedded into the roof. This enormous display will offer various sorts of entertainment to the rear passengers. This screen is 8K compatible and also supports 5G network for entertainment surfing. 

 

2024 BMW 5 Series Engine Options & Gearbox Details


For now, the exact details about the powertrain options of this upcoming luxurious 5-Series are not available. Multiple online reports are hinting that it’ll be offered with 2-litre turbo-petrol and 2-litre turbo-diesel engine options. However, a mild-hybrid tech will ensure that these engine options are greener as well as fuel-efficient to drive. An 8-speed automatic gearbox will be paired with both of these engine options. More details about its power figures and performance are likely to be available ahead of the official launch in India.

BMW has scheduled the launch event of the LWB 5-Series on July 27. The new 2024 BMW 5 Series price is likely to start from Rs 80 lakh and might go as high as Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom) for select variants. With the new updates, the new BMW 5-Series will compete with rivals like the Audi A6, Volvo S90, and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class.
