Ahead of its official India debut on October 3, 2024, Kia India has announced the date of commencement of bookings for the new Kia Carnival MPV. The previous generation of the Kia Carnival was discontinued back in 2023 due to the stricter Bharat Stage 6 emission norms that made it nearly impossible for the then-existing big diesel engines to continue being sold. Kia is back with an updated Carnival and here are all the details about the same, including the date of commencement of bookings.
Upcoming Kia Carnival bookings commencement date
Kia India has just announced that it will start accepting bookings for the upcoming Kia Carnival MPV from September 16, 2024. Buyers looking to get themselves the new Kia Carnival can book the MPV through their nearest Kia dealership or via the official Kia India website. The upcoming Kia Carnival booking amount has been set at Rs 2 lakh. The first lot of Carnivals are reportedly arriving via the CBU route while the subsequent units will be assembled in India.
Updated Kia Carnival engine and transmission
Kia has not yet clarified whether the new-generation Carnival will come with the 2.2-litre diesel unit that used to come on the now-discontinued Carnival, or a 1.6-litre turbocharged hybrid unit. It is highly likely that Kia will continue with the diesel engine. We don’t see the 3.5-litre V6 to be making its way to our shores.
Exterior design changes
The upcoming Kia Carnival shares its design cues with Kia’s latest products. Key design changes over the previous model include sleek LED headlights with arrow-shaped LED DRLs, a redesigned tiger nose kidney grille, reprofiled bumpers, and connected LED tail lights. The Carnival retains the signature electronically sliding rear doors for easy ingress and egress for the rear passengers. Just like the past, we expect Kia India to offer the new Carnival in multiple seating options.

The second-row passengers will be the most pampered ones inside the cabin of the new Kia Carnival. The second-row seats feature powered ventilated seats, powered sliding doors, a dual-pane sunroof, 12-speaker sound system, and a 12.3-inch dual-screen setup for infotainment and instrumentation. On the safety front, apart from the standard features, the new Carnival also gets a Level-2 ADAS suite with 23 functionalities. It also gets a digital rear-view mirror, 360-degree cameras, and a heads-up display.
