MG Windsor EV production crosses 15,000 units — Capacity set to increase

MG Motor India recently shared that the carmaker has crossed a production milestone of 15,000 units with the Windsor EV. The Windsor EV has been among the best selling electric vehicles in India from its first launch. To cater to the emerging buyers, MG Motor India plans to increase its production capacity. MG Windsor EV production to increase

Launched back in September 2024, MG Motor India crossed 15,000 unit production with the Windsor EV, as reported by the carmaker. The MG Windsor EV has managed to dethrone the long standing Tata Nexon EV on the spot of the best-selling electric vehicle in India. For the past four months, the Windsor EV has been the best-selling electric car in India, averaging about 3,000 unit monthly dispatches.

Furthermore, in order to comply with the rising demand, the carmaker has announced to increase the production of the Windsor EV. The carmaker will make changes to the monthly output of the Windsor EV from its Halol plant in Gujarat. This move should not only increase the dealership dispatch of the Windsor EV but in turn, also decrease the waiting period for the electric crossover.

More MG cars coming soon

MG Motor India has also shared details about its upcoming MG Select range of cars. The carmaker is also introducing certain modifications to its manufacturing plant in order to accommodate the additional models and has also hinted that these changes could result in production slowdown in February 2025. Hence, we can expect lower than usual dispatch figures in the month of February 2025 from MG Motor India.

Speaking about the upcoming MG cars in India, the carmaker has confirmed its plans to launch four new luxury cars in the Indian market by 2026. Now there are two very important things to note here; first being the fact that these models will consist of pure EVs and hybrids and second, all these models will be sold by MG’s premium range of Select dealerships. Out of these four models, two have already been confirmed that are the Cyberster electric roadster and M9 electric van. Both these models were showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025 and are aligned to be launched in the first half of 2025.
