MG Windsor EV free public charging offer limited
As per a revision to the terms and conditions for the charging offer, the carmaker has revealed that the free public charging offer is only valid till the compilation of either 1000 units/1000kWh or one year from the date of purchase, whichever is earlier. This goes south from the promise MG had made to its customers on offering unlimited free public charging for the entire year, devoid of your kilometre usage. Those who have higher running with their MG Windsor EVs will take a significant impact from this move and in order to save costs, will have to reside with home charging, since public chargers are expensive.

Given that the MG Windsor EV has a certified realistic range of 280km with its 38kWh battery pack, its efficiency turns out to be 7.36kmpu. Needless to say, the efficiency is dependent on your usage conditions and can vary depending on multiple factors. Taking the free 1000 units into account, MG will only offer free charging for the initial 7,300km driven, which is considerably less than what even MG Motor India regards as the ideal distance for the first year, that is 15,000km, based on the service owner’s manual.
This move is not welcomed by the existing owners of the Windsor EV and puts a question mark on the commitment made by the carmaker at launch. Many customers have raised their concerns on this subject on social media and forums, seeking a response from the carmaker on this unprecedented move.
