MG cars September 2024 sales in India – 49:51 split between electric and ICE

JSW MG Motor India has announced its sales number for the month of September 2024. What’s interesting to note is that the British-Chinese carmaker saw an almost half-and-half split in sales among electric and ICE-powered vehicles. This proportion was 35:65 last month, with the former representing EV sales. Here’s everything you need to know about MG cars sales in September 2024 in India.

Year-to-year sales fall by 8.3%

MG India sold a total of 4,588 units in September 2024, which indicated an 8.3% decline in sales as compared to the same period last year. MG sold 5,003 cars and SUVs in September 2023, 415 units more than what they did this year.

Month-on-month sales growth remains constant

MG sold 4,571 units last month, which was just 17 units less than what they did this month. This translates to a negligible increase of 0.4%, which indicates stagnant month-on-month growth for the carmaker in India. Adding to that, the sales number for the month of July 2024 was identical to that of August.

New MG Windsor EV and BaaS model

MG had launched the 2024 Windsor EV on September 11, 2024. The Windsor has debuted with itself MG’s Battery-as-a-Service pricing model wherein customers can choose to pay for the vehicle separately and get the battery on lease through one of the four financing partners available for BaaS scheme. The BaaS model is aimed at boosting the sales of MG electric cars in India by making ownership affordable for customers looking to switch from ICE to EV. The Windsor EV is expected to give MG a boost in sales that it has been longing for a couple of months now. Notably, the BaaS model has made its way to the MG Comet EV and MG ZS EV as well.
