MG Astor 1.3-litre turbo variants discontinued — All details

Yesterday, MG Motor India launched the 2025 MG Astor that brought a few new features and a feature rejig in certain variants. The press release didn’t clearly mention whether the turbo petrol is on sale or has been discontinued, as only the prices of the normal petrol engine were revealed. Read on to know more about the MG Astor 1.3-litre turbo and other details about the MY25 update. 

MG Astor 1.3-litre turbo discontinued

MG Motor India has discontinued the 1.3-litre turbocharged engine option in the 2025 MG Astor. While there is no official response on this move, we assume it has been done due to the lukewarm demand for the turbo variants. Whatever sales the Astor brings to the carmaker, which hardly cross four digits, are from the normal petrol variants. The MG Astor has not been updated ever since it was launched in India and it demands a significant update to put a dent on competition’ sales.

2025 MG Astor updates and features

The 2025 MG Astor features include 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charger and auto-dimming IRVM. Furthermore, like before, the MG Astor continues to offer features such as LED headlights and tail lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control and more.

MG Astor facelift incoming

MG Motor India showcased the ZS facelift at the Bharat Mobility Global Auto Expo 2025. Named the ZS HEV, this model is already on sale in the global markets and is likely to make its entry into India as the Astor facelift. MG showcased the ZS HEV with its strong hybrid powertrain, given the carmaker’s newfound focus on hybrid and electric vehicles. While MG Motor India is yet to confirm its plans to launch the ZS HEV in India, if launched, it should carry a strong hybrid powertrain to go against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
