- 312 new Mercedes models to be launched this year
After teasing the Mercedes Electric G-Wagen at the Bharat Mobility Show, Mercedes India has started accepting bookings for the all-electric G-Wagen, called the Mercedes G 580 with EQ Technology. Mercedes announced this during the press conference for the launch of the electric EQA and the updated EQB SUVs. While we await the official launch of the all-electric G-Wagen, we have some details for you to delve into in the meantime.
Mercedes G 580 Motors, Battery & Range
The Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology will come equipped with four electric motors - one for each wheel. The combined output of the motors is 587PS and an impressive 1,164Nm of torque. The quad-motor setup is conjoined to a 116kWh battery, which has a WLTP range of 473 kilometres.
The Electric G-Class: Off-Roading Capabilities
The electric G-Wagon gets an independent front suspension and a rigid axle at the rear, staying true to its off-roading legacy. The G 580 has a water wading depth of 850mm. It also gets a Low Range off-road gearing mode along with a G-Steering function, which enables the SUV to rotate 360 in its place and ensures a smaller turning circle when driving off-road.

The Electric G-Wagen: Design
The G 580 is unmistakably a Geländewagen, donning the classic boxy silhouette of the G-Class. It is easily recognisable as a G-Wagen from any angle you view it. The front grille is surrounded by a thin LED band, which gives it an appealing look. The SUV sits on 18-inch alloy wheels, which come as standard. You can, of course, upgrade to bigger wheels as part of the extensive customisation options from Mercedes.
