In September 2024, Maruti Suzuki achieved total sales of 184,727 units, marking a 1.87% increase compared to the October 2024 sales of 181,343 units. September 2024 car sales analysis: Successes and setbacks
After a closer look at the sales report, it’s clear that Light Commercial Vehicles experienced significant growth, with an impressive rise of 35.09%, totalling 3,099 units sold. However, on the passenger vehicle side, the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz model saw a drastic decline, with sales dropping by more than half to 662 units in September 2024, down from 1,491 units during the same month last year. Additionally, sales of compact models, including the Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, and WagonR, also faced a decline, recording an 11.77% drop. In contrast, the Alto and S-Presso maintained stability, showing only a slight increase of 12 units. In September 2024, they recorded 10,363 sales compared to 10,351 in September 2023.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle models, including the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, and XL6, collectively reached 59,272 sales in September, reflecting a growth of 3.84%. The total domestic sales of passenger vehicles amounted to 144,962. When considering total domestic sales, including both passenger and commercial vehicles, the figure rose to 156,999, slightly down from 158,832 the previous year.
Notably, Maruti Suzuki's sales to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) also increased significantly, up 56.09% from 5,726 units last September to 8,938 this month. Furthermore, total export sales rose by 23.17%, totalling 27,728 units. In summary, the combined sales for both domestic and export markets reached 184,727, compared to 181,343 sales in September 2023.
Annual financial growth analysis
In analyzing the fiscal year growth and decline of total domestic sales, the Ciaz recorded sales of 4,141 units from April to September FY 2024-25, marking a decline of 44.35% compared to the same period in FY 2023-24. In contrast, utility vehicles experienced a growth of 12.14%. Maruti Suzuki's sales to other OEMs also saw a significant increase of 86.95%, totalling 54,097 units in April-September FY 2024-25.

When looking at total export sales, there was a growth of 11.87%, with 148,276 units sold in Apr-Sep FY 24-25 compared to FY 2024. However, overall domestic sales in FY 2025 experienced a slight decline of 0.26% compared to FY 2024. Overall, the combined total sales showed a modest rise of just 1.27%.
