Maruti Suzuki Fronx hybrid — All details
The Maruti Fronx is likely to be the first model under the Maruti Suzuki lineup to offer the new series-hybrid powertrain. We expect Maruti Suzuki to launch its own strong hybrid with the Fronx facelift, which should be due by next year. At the moment, Maruti Suzuki is souring the hybrid powertrain for the Grand Vitara from Toyota, which turns out to be expensive for the carmaker, thereby making it ineffective in small cars like the Fronx and Swift.

Hence, the carmaker is working on its affordable series-hybrid powertrain, which will be ultra efficient as well as cost effective. Expect heavy localisation and focus on fuel efficiency, which is said to be as high as 35kmpl by several reports. The series-parallel strong hybrid powertrain is said to make use of Maruti Suzuki’s new Z-series three-cylinder petrol engine that’s already available in the Swift. Needless to say, the engine will be coupled with an electric motor and a battery pack, completing the hybrid setup.
The test mule was captured without any camouflage and it also boasted the “Hybrid” badging on the right side of the tail gate. Currently, the Fronx is available with two engine options — a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine. Both the engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, whereas on the automatics front, the 1.2-litre offers an AMT while the turbo petrol offers 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Both the engine options offered currently with the Fronx are fairly efficient given the performance they offer. You can choose from a range of used Maruti Suzuki Fronx cars that offer an hassle free experience.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift
We expect the Maruti Suzuki Fronx facelift to boast minor cosmetic updates, as the highlight will be the launch of the strong hybrid powertrain. Tweaked headlight and tail light clusters, new set of alloy wheels, revamped dashboard with new trim elements, new upholstery and a few new features are among the key changes that are likely to be offered with the upcoming Maruti Fronx facelift. It remains to be seen whether Maruti Suzuki continues with the Fronx Turbo or drops it in favour for the hybrid, since the share of Fronx Turbo has been on the downtrend reaching single digits.
