Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition teased ahead of launch

Mahindra has officially teased the XUV700 Ebony Edition across its social handles, which is likely to be a dark-themed special edition of the 7-seater family SUV. This comes in line after the recent launch of the Mahindra Scorpio-N Black Edition and also the launch of the Tata Harrier and Safari Stealth editions. Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition — What’s new?

While Mahindra has not revealed any details about the upcoming edition in the teasers, it doesn’t mention “Dark” in its infographics, hinting towards a dark edition like in the case of the Scorpio N. It is worth noting that the XUV700 already comes in a Stealth Black colour scheme along with black alloy wheels but this special edition could take things a notch above in terms of aesthetics.

We can expect most of the changes to take place on the inside, in the form of darker elements. Among all that could change, we can expect an all-black dashboard with soft leatherette finish, black leatherette seat covers and black roofliner. On the outside, the details could include a blacked-out radiator grille, black 18-inch alloy wheels, blacked out window chrome garnishing and blacked-out roof rails. These details should improve the stealthy aesthetics of the SUV and lure those who were potentially eyeing at the Harrier/Safari Dark/Stealth editions.

Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition features

\On the features front, we do not expect the upcoming Ebony edition to bring any new features. The current set of features offered on the XUV700 include front ventilated seats, powered driver’s seat with memory function, dual 10-25-inch screens with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 7 airbags, 12-speaker Sony sound system, panoramic sunroof, level-2 ADAS and a lot more.

Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition powertrain details

Since we expect the Ebony Edition to be based on the top-spec variant of the XUV700, it could offer the choice of both turbo petrol and diesel engine options, with both manual and automatic transmissions. Speaking of their specifications, Its 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine puts out 200PS of power and 380Nm of torque whereas the 2.2-litre diesel engine puts out 185PS of power and 420Nm/450Nm of torque in the case of manual/automatic transmissions.

Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition launch date

The Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition is likely to be launched on March 17, 2025. We expect the Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition to command a slight premium over the equivalent variant-powertrain combination of the standard model. Once launched, it will go against the likes of the Tata Safari Dark/Stealth Editions and MG Hector Plus Blackstorm edition.
