Mahindra BE 6e electric SUV launched at Rs 18.90 lakh

Mahindra has launched the much awaited BE 6e electric SUV at a starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh ex-showroom. Needless to say, Rs 18.90 lakh is for the base-spec variant whereas the prices of the rest of the variants will be revealed at a later stage. Read on to know more about the Mahindra BE 6e born electric coupe SUV.

Mahindra BE 6e design details

When it comes to the design, we are surprised to see that it’s very close to the first shown concepts in 2022. The BE 6e carries a bold stance featuring multiple sharp creases, angular lines and accentuated shoulder lines, followed by a sloping roofline. Key design elements include LED headlights with C-shaped LED DRLs, 18-inch alloy wheels, connected LED tail lights and flush-fit door handles. Speaking about its dimensions, the BE 6e measures 4,371mm in length and offers a ground clerance of 207mm. Since it is born electric, it also offers a front storage space of 45 litres under the bonnet and a conventional boot space of 455 litres.

On the inside, again, the layout and feature set is similar to what we first saw in the concept. The flowing dashboard features two connected screens — one for the infotainment and one for the driver instrumentation. The rest of the cabin layout is seamless and minimalist, with certain interesting design elements slattered across the cabin.

Coming to the features, the top highlights include an infinity glass roof, multiple drive modes, level-2 ADAS features, cruise control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, surround sound system with Dolby Atmos, automatic headlights, rain sensing wipers, tilt and telescopic steering wheel and more. Furthermore, we will get more clarity about the feature set across variants closer to the launch.

Mahindra BE 6e specifications

The Mahindra BE 6e comes underpinned with the INGLO born electric architecture, which has been developed by Mahindra with certain components sourced from Volkswagen. It is important to note that both the BE 6e and XEV 9e will be offered with two battery pack options — 59kWh and 79kWh. These advanced batteries boast blade-type cells and use LFP chemistry that is far more advanced than NMC. 

As a result, the BE 6e will offer a realistic driving range of 500+km on a single charge with the larger battery pack. While the exact specifications of the motor are not out yet, we know that the BE 6e will come with a rear-mounted electric motor, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds. Coming to the charging, the BE 6e can support up to 140kW DC fast charging, with a 20-80% charging time of 20 mins.

Mahindra BE 6e price, market launch and variants

In typical Mahindra fashion, the SUV-maker has only revealed the starting price of the 6e, which happens to be of the Pack 1 variant. More variants, Pack in Mahindra’s speak, will follow suit alongside the launch that is slated to take place somewhere in the middle of January 2025. Our educated guess hints the launch to take place at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025. Furthermore, Mahindra will begin the pre-launch drives in the middle of December 2024 for certain customers who had shown their interest, with deliveries beginning from March 2025 in a phased manner.
