Skoda Auto has been expanding its presence in Vietnam, and the latest development is that the carmaker has opened a new facility in the country that will assemble the Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia from CKD kits that will be imported from India. Here are more details about this development.

New Skoda assembly plant in Vietnam

Skoda Auto, in collaboration with Thanh Cong Group, has begun assembling the Kushaq and Slavia locally in its new facility in Vietnam. The cars will be exported from India in the form of CKD (Completely Knocked-Down) kits. The current lineup of Skoda cars in Vietnam includes the Skoda Kodiaq, Skoda Karoq, Skoda Kushaq, and Skoda Slavia. The first two Skoda SUVs are imported into Vietnam from Europe. 

Vietnam-spec Skoda cars

The Vietnam-spec Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia are left-hand drive cars, as opposed to the right-hand drive ones that we get in India. They are equipped with features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitors, and leatherette upholstery. The CKD kits will be exclusively manufactured at the Skoda facility in Pune, Maharashtra.

2025 Skoda Kushaq and Skoda Slavia

The Kushaq and Slavia are sister cars of the Volkswagen Taigun and Virtus respectively. These were developed under Skoda-Volkswagen India’s new plan for India expansion. Both cars come with the option of a 1.0-litre TSI engine and a 1.5-litre TSI engine, and are built on the same platform.

Upcoming Skoda cars in India

The Kushaq and the Slavia, along with the Volkswagen duo, are expected to soon see facelifted models being launched in India. Other notable upcoming Skoda cars and SUVs in India include the second generation Skoda Kodiaq, new generation Skoda Superb, new Skoda Octavia vRS, and the all-electric Skoda Enyaq.
