Made-in-India Hyundai Exter being exported to South Africa

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has begun exporting the made-in-India Exter to South Africa, which makes it the eighth Indian-made Hyundai car to be exported to the country. Exports count for almost a fifth of HMIL’s total sales with the South African market being a major contributor to the same. Read the following story to know more.

Hyundai Exter exports to South Africa

Hyundai India has said that the Exter is only manufactured at its Tamil Nadu plant in Chennai and it has become the eighth Hyundai car to be exported to South Africa from India. Other cars in this list include Grand i10 Nios, i20, i20 N Line, Aura, Venue, Venue N Line, and Alcazar SUV. The first lot of 996 units of the Hyundai Exter has already reached South Africa and the deliveries shall soon begin there. 2024 also marks 20 years of Hyundai India exporting Made-in-India cars to South Africa. Notably, the South African market has a wider variety of Hyundai cars on sale than we do in India, including cars like the Palisade SUV, Staria MPV, and i30N hot-hatch.

Hyundai cars sales August 2024

HMIL sold a total of 63,175 cars in the month of August 2024 that included 49,525 units sold in the domestic market and 13,650 exported to international markets. This reflects that Hyundai roughly sells a fifth of its cars manufactured in India overseas. While on the topic of sales, Hyundai saw an 11.6% decline in sales last month as compared to the same month previous year. A fall in both domestic as well as international sales contributed to this decline. Month-on-month domestic sales, however, grew marginally.

Hyundai Exter

The Exter is Hyundai’s entry-level SUV that the carmaker launched in 2023. In just about one year, Hyundai sold 1,00,000 units of the Exter, making it another successful product in the country. It is offered with the option of a factory-fitted CNG kit along with the petrol engine, further widening its appeal. Hyundai Exter price in India starts from Rs 5.99 lakh and goes up till Rs 10.42 lakh for the fully-loaded Hyundai Exter Knight Edition.
