Leapmotor India entry confirmed — Everything you need to know

Stellantis is set to expand its electric innings in India with the launch of the Leapmotor brand. Leapmotor is originally a Chinese EV maker, 20% stake of which is held by Stellantis. Leapmotor India entry gets green light

Stellantis has officially announced its plans to bring the Leapmotor brand to the Indian market, thereby expanding its electric model offering in the country. Currently, the Stellantis group only has one electric offering in the country, which happens to be the Citroen eC3 electric hatchback. Coming back to Leapmotor, the carmaker is popular in the Chinese market and delivered close to 3 lakh electric vehicles in the year 2024, nearly doubling its year-over-year growth.

Leapmotor India launch expected timeline and models

While Stellantis has confirmed the plans to bring the Leapmotor brand to India, the conglomerate is yet to reveal the launch timeline for the brand. We expect the electric carmaker to make its entry to the Indian market sometime in the year 2026. Furthermore, the carmaker is yet to reveal its roadmap for the Indian market, and the models that it will have on offer. There is also no clarity around the origin of models coming to the country and whether they will be brought to the Indian market as direct imports or assembled locally to keep the costs in check.
