Read on to know more about the upcoming Land Rover Defender Octa.
Land Rover Defender Octa — What is it?
The Defender Octa is the most-hardcore version of the 4x4 SUV that Land Rover has on offer and needless to say, it tops every other Defender model currently on sale. It is all set to officially be launched in India on March 26, 2025 and is likely to carry a higher asking price than what was announced earlier back—Rs 2.65 crore—in 2024. For the money, the Defender Octa packs some serious kit including a thumping 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8, 6D Dynamics suspension, increased water wading and ground clearance and a lot more.

Land Rover Defender Octa design changes
The Defender Octa, available exclusively in the 110 body style, sets itself apart from the standard Defender with several distinctive features. It boasts flared wheel arches, a more open front grille, fewer perforations in the front skid plate, and an increased ground clearance of 319mm. Additional highlights include unique 22-inch alloy wheels fitted with all-season tires, an ‘Octa’ badge on the C-pillar, and a gloss black roof and tailgate.
Buyers can choose from exclusive color options: Carpathian Grey, Charente Grey, Faroe Green, and Petra Copper. These shades are also available in matte finishes, featuring a protective film for added durability.

6D Dynamics suspension
A standout feature of the Defender Octa is its advanced 6D Dynamics suspension system, which eliminates the need for a traditional anti-roll bar by hydraulically linking the dampers. According to Land Rover, this setup “virtually eliminates” pitch and body roll on-road while also enhancing wheel articulation for improved performance on rough terrain.
The Octa is further reinforced with longer, more durable wishbones, enhanced underbody protection, a 28mm increase in ground clearance, and a 100mm boost in wading depth. It also features a bespoke drive mode with an off-road launch setting and the fastest steering rack ever fitted to a Defender.
Redesigned front and rear bumpers contribute to better off-road capability, increasing the maximum approach angle by 2.5 degrees, the departure angle by 2 degrees, and the breakover angle by 1.1 degrees. Additionally, the SUV’s maximum wheel articulation has been increased from the standard Defender 110’s 430mm to an impressive 569mm.

Land Rover Defender Octa engine details
The Defender Octa is equipped with the same 4.4-litre BMW-sourced mild-hybrid V8 found in the Range Rover, but with a higher output of 635hp and 750Nm of torque. When engaging the off-road launch mode, torque increases to 800Nm. Paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that channels power to all four wheels, the Defender Octa accelerates from 0 to 100kph in just 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 250kph.
