Kia Syros safety rating

The Kia Syros scored 5 stars in adult occupant safety and child occupant safety crash tests. Speaking of points, the Syros scored 30.21 out of 32 in adult occupant protection (AOP) and 44.42 out of 49 in child occupant protection (COP). With these results, the Kia Syros becomes the first Kia model in India to be awarded 5 stars from either Bharat NCAP or Global NCAP.  Bharat NCAP crash tested the higher variants of the Syros but since most of its safety features are offered as standard across variants, the safety rating is valid for all petrol variants of the SUV.

The report highlighted that the Syros provided good protection for both the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck regions. However, protection for the driver’s chest and knees was rated as adequate. In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, the Syros scored 14.21 out of 16.00. It achieved a full score of 16.00 out of 16.00 in the side movable deformable barrier test, indicating overall good protection. Kia Syros platform

Interestingly, while the Sonet is built on Kia’s larger K2 platform, the Syros uses the more compact K1 platform—the same one found in models like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Exter. However, Kia refers to the Syros’ platform as a "reinforced K1" due to the extensive use of hot-stamped components in its body shell. According to Kia, adopting this updated K1 platform has allowed for the integration of a more advanced electrical and electronics architecture and has improved the vehicle’s performance in NCAP safety tests.
