Kia Seltos Hybrid confirmed — Launch timeline details

South Korean automaker Kia Corporation organised the CEO Investor Day 2025 a few days back, and key takeaways from the event include Kia’s plans to go big on hybrid and EV technology, notably releasing a hybrid version of the popular Seltos SUV. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming Kia Seltos Hybrid, along with other key details like its launch timeline.

Upcoming Kia Seltos Hybrid SUV

There had been media reports earlier claiming that Kia was developing a hybrid version of the Seltos, and the same has now been confirmed by the carmaker. The Kia Seltos Hybrid is expected to come with a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 44PS electric motor and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The combined output figures of the aforementioned powertrain, as seen on the Hyundai Kona, are 141PS and 265Nm. The hybrid powertrain will be seen on the next generational model of the Seltos, which is soon expected to be launched.

Next generation Kia Seltos launch timeline

The new generation Kia Seltos is expected to be launched sometime in 2026, which is likely to continue with the current powertrain options, in addition to the hybrid powertrain that we spoke about earlier. The Kia Seltos Hybrid will go against other hybrid cars in India such as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.

Upcoming Kia cars — Hybrid and electric

Kia is planning to have 15 electric models and 10 hybrid models in its global portfolio by 2030. Upcoming Kia electric cars include the EV2, EV3, EV4, and EV5. On the hybrid front, it plans to start with hybrid versions of the Seltos SUV and the Telluride SUV. The carmaker forecasts hybrid sales reaching almost 10 lakh units by 2030. Immediate plans include launching five new models, one product enhancement model, and three derivatives in 2025. In India, Kia plans to capitalise on the Kia Syros, with a sales forecast of 4 lakh units by the year 2030.
