Kia EV9 electric SUV launched in India — Priced at Rs 1.29 crore

It’s not just the Kia Carnival that has made its way to our shores today. Kia India has also launched its all-electric full-size SUV, the Kia EV9, at a starting price of Rs 1.29 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Offered in just one trim in India, the EV9 boasts of impressive power and torque figures along with latest tech & safety features too. Here’s everything you need to know about the new Kia EV9 electric SUV.

New Kia EV9 electric SUV

The EV9 is Kia’s all-electric SUV that is based on the Hyundai-Kia’s E-GMP platform that has been specifically designed for electric vehicles. Measuring 5,025mm in length, 1,980mm in width, 1,780mm in height and having a wheelbase of 3,100mm, the EV9 is quite a large SUV with a modern boxy design language.

Battery and motor specifications

The Indian-spec Kia EV9 gets a 99.8kWh battery that powers two electric motors, one placed on each axle, generating a combined output of 384PS of power and 700Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels. Despite its massive weight, the EV9 can reach triple digit speeds in just 5.3 seconds.

Range and charging time

The Kia EV9 claimed range stands at 561 kilometres. Claimed charging time from 10% to 80% is an impressive 24 minutes, though you would need a 350kW DC fast charger to do so, which is hardly available as part of the public infrastructure in the country as of date.

Tech and features

The EV9 comes packed with loads of latest technology and convenience features. It boasts of Vehicle-2-Everything capability. The middle-row gets captain seats that are electrically-adjustable and offer heating & ventilation function. There’s lots of space in the third-row as well, owing to the E-GMP platform. The dashboard gets an immaculate looking curved dual-screen setup. In terms of safety, there are 10 airbags, ADAS with 27 functionalities and lots of more active and passive safety features.

2024 Kia EV9 price in India
