Kia Clavis Likely To Be Called Syros
As we mentioned earlier, a new report claims that the Kia Clavis, which was recently exclusively spied by Cars24 New Cars, will be christened Syros in the Indian market. The design of Kia’s upcoming SUV seems youthful and distinct to anything on sale in the compact and mid-size SUV segment in the Indian market. While its dimensions are yet to come out, having seen the car in the flesh, we can affirm that the Syros will sit between the Sonet and Seltos SUVs in the Indian market and cater to a different audience base than its stablemates.

Kia Syros Features
The spy shots captured earlier also gave us a glimpse of what its interior could look like. While the dashboard was draped under camouflage, a few details and features were visible. These features include a connected screen setup, which should include two 10.25-inch displays, automatic climate control, front ventilated seats, 2-spoke multi-function steering wheel and audience’s favourite, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. We also captured comfortable seats like seen in the EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5 along with a light upholstery.
Kia Syros Powertrain Details
The Kia Clavis that we spotted has a diesel engine as it was seen getting its tank refuelled with diesel, and we also spotted a cap indicating the car requires DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid). We expect the Clavis to carry over the same engine as the Seltos and Sonet diesel. Exact specifications of the powertrains remain to be revealed.
In addition to the diesel engine, the Kia Syros will also feature petrol engine options, which could be the 1.2-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo petrol, already doing duty on the Sonet and Seltos SUVs, respectively. Reports also reveal that the Kia Syros will also offer the option of an all-electric drivetrain within a few months from launch, which could make it Kia’s first locally-developed EV for the Indian market. It is no secret that Kia India is already working on its range of locally-engineered electric vehicles along with Hyundai.

Kia Syros Launch Timeline
Kia India has already announced the arrival of two new offerings for the Indian market — the all-electric EV9 and the new-gen Carnival — both of which were showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. While Kia India has not revealed any official launch timeline for the Syros SUV, we expect the carmaker to reveal the pre-production model at the end of 2024, followed by the India launch in early 2025. Since the Kia Syros is likely to sit between the Sonet and the Seltos, it is likely to play in the ballpark price range between Rs 10 lakh and 20 lakh.
