Exclusive: Kia Clavis Spied In India - To Get Diesel Engine

We just spied the Kia Clavis testing under a disguise, covered all over by black drapes. This upcoming compact SUV from Kia is expected to be positioned between the Kia Sonet and the Kia Seltos. We observed some key details and specifications about the upcoming Kia Clavis SUV while taking these spy shots. Read further to know more.

Kia Clavis Diesel Powertrain

The Kia Clavis that we spotted has a diesel engine as it was seen getting its tank refuelled with diesel, and we also spotted a cap indicating the car requires DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid). We expect the Clavis to carry over the same engine as the Seltos and Sonet diesel. Exact specifications of the powertrains remain to be revealed.

Kia Clavis Features & Interior

The Kia Clavis that was spied featured sensors at the front as well as the back, indicating the presence of sensor-based ADAS on the upcoming SUV. The Kia Clavis will also feature a panoramic sunroof, the new two-spoke steering wheel, fresh design for the dashboard and dual-screen setup.

Kia Clavis Design

Though the Clavis was covered by black drapes, we could see that it gets a boxy silhouette with headlights and rear lights resembling those seen on the newer Kia models. The silhouette has a stark resemblance to the Skoda Yeti’s shape. You can also have a look at the alloy wheel design in the image attached. Interestingly, the model boasted drum brakes at the rear, which is not the case in the Seltos and Sonet SUVs. 

Kia Clavis Expected Launch Date

We expect Kia India to launch the Clavis SUV sometime in 2025, although there is no official confirmation from Kia yet. As mentioned before, it is likely to be slotted between the Sonet and the Seltos. As per reports, Kia is set to unveil the all-electric full-size SUV, the Kia EV9, on October 3, 2024 along with the Kia Carnival MPV. Stay tuned to CARS24 New Cars for updates.
