Kia Carens-based EV for India incoming
The first images of the upcoming Kia India’s localised EV have recently surfaced online, which reveals that the design will be in line with the Carens, with a few EV-specific features of course. Speaking of these EV-specific features, these could include an enclosed front grille with arrow-shaped LED DRLs, following the inspiration from the global lineup of Kia EVs, including the EV9, which is set to come to India this October.

Furthermore, it is worth mentioning that the design changes we get to see in the Carens EV could also make way to the Carens ICE, with features such as connected LED headlights and tail lights along with new alloy wheel design. It remains to be seen whether the new Carens EV will carry over the same dimensions as the ICE sibling or boast different underpinnings.
Kia Carens EV expected powertrain details
Reports suggest that the upcoming Kia Carens EV will share its underpinnings like battery and motor with the Hyundai Creta EV, which is also under development. At this moment, neither of the carmakers have revealed the specifications of the battery and motor for the respective models. However, prior reports suggested that the Creta EV will come with a 45kWh battery pack, which will power a front-mounted electric motor. The same kind of powertrain setup is also expected to power the Kia Carens EV. Needless to say, further details will emerge as we head closer to the launch.
