In a rather strange price revision, Jeep India has cut down the prices of Compass SUV by up to Rs 1.7 lakh. However, this price cut is limited to the Sport base variant only. The latest price revision is a boon for the Compass buyers, especially to those who are planning to buy the Jeep Compass base variant. After this price update, the Jeep Compass base model price starts from Rs 18.99 lakh only (ex-showroom, Delhi). Earlier, this variant was priced at Rs 20.69 lakh; leading to a total price cut of Rs 1.7 lakh. Interestingly, the price hike for the rest of the variants is equal and uniform at just Rs 14,000. With the new prices, the Jeep Compass remains unchanged as there are no additions of features or updates. Compass SUV is the most affordable Jeep car in India. Unlike before, the Compass is now only offered with a diesel powertrain i.e. a 2L, turbo-diesel that churns out a peak power of 170bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The automatic variants are offered with a 9-speed torque converter gearbox while the manual ones are equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission. The Model S top variant is the only option for customers with AWD system requirements. The primary rivals of Compass in India are the new Tata Safari, MG Hector, and the Hyundai Tucson.
