Existing and prospective Hyundai customers, rejoice! We can confirm that Hyundai will roll out wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay for its flagship 10.25-inch infotainment system in 2025. The update will also roll out for existing cars featuring the 10.25-inch infotainment system. Read on to know more about the update that is expected to roll out soon.

Hyundai Creta, Verna, i20, Alcazar to finally get wireless connectivity

Hyundai is finally going to update its popular models with the inclusion of the much awaited wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. At the sidelines of the Alcazar facelift launch, we learned from a source at Hyundai that the brand is going to roll out an update that will offer wireless connectivity for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with the 10.25-inch infotainment system. Globally, the same infotainment has already been updated with the said functionality in the Tucson facelift, which will be followed by further models in the near future.

Why is it such a big deal?

For years, Hyundai customers have been asking for wireless connectivity for two main reasons. Firstly, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity is offered in the more affordable variants of models like the Venue, Verna and Creta that feature the smaller 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment. This makes customers opting for the higher variants feel shortchanged. Secondly, the absence of wireless connectivity makes the wireless smartphone charger redundant as owners always keep their smartphones plugged in to use smartphone projection.

Will existing cars also get this update?

Yes, Hyundai has confirmed that the existing models, featuring the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, will also get the update. It remains to be seen whether this update will be rolled out over-the-air (OTA) or as an offline update via the dealership. Since most of the newer models like the Verna, Creta, Alcazar, Tucson and i20 support OTA updates, it should be feasible for Hyundai to roll out an OTA update to the owners of the said vehicles.
