Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift — What’s new?

Speaking about the design updates first, there is nothing major when it comes to the changes to the exterior. Except for the length, all other dimensions remain the same, while the former has only been increased due to the reprofiling of front and rear bumpers. Styling changes include refreshed V-shaped grille up front, a longer roof spoiler, a new set of alloy wheels and reworked front and rear bumpers.

On the inside, the dashboard has been reconfigured to boost ease of use and overall practicality. The placement of the screens has also been refined for easy access and usability. Furthermore, a few physical controls have been added to the centre console responsible for features such as heated and cooled seats and heated steering wheel. On the features front, the new Ioniq 5 gets better safety thanks to the enhanced ADAS suite along with remote parking capabilities.

Hyundai has also refined the driving experience by stiffening up the rear suspension components, resulting in better stability and dynamics. Sound insulation has also been beefed up, thereby reducing road noise and motor noise, resulting in a silent driving experience. Hyundai has also added a new shock absorber that reduces vibrations filtering from the road.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 facelift battery specs and range

While there are no big perceptible changes on the outside but underneath the skin, there are some big changes, Firstly, Hyundai has added a larger 84kWh battery, which is also offered in the Kia EV6. However, reports suggest Hyundai will not introduce the larger battery pack to the Indian market, in order to keep the costs in check. While the global Ioniq 5 comes with the 84kWh battery pack and dual-motor AWD in its higher grades, the India-spec Ioniq 5 is likely to continue with the 72.6kWh battery pack and rear-wheel-drive configuration.
