Hyundai cars January 2025 sales continue with downtrend

Hyundai Motor India has released its January 2025 sales numbers, which reveal a 5% YoY decrease in sales, continuing the downward trend the carmaker is facing for the last few months. However, the company’s best-selling nameplate—the Creta—received its best-ever sales thanks to the addition of newly-launched Creta Electric. Hyundai cars January 2025 domestic sales

Hyundai Motor India dispatched 54,003 cars from its factory to its dealerships across the country in the month of January 2025. If we compare this figure to that of January 2024, the carmaker dispatched 57,115 units, thereby registering a sales dip of 5% year-on-year. However, compared to December 2024 with its 42,208 unit sales, Hyundai registered a sales growth of nearly 28% in January 2025 sales.

Hyundai cars January 2025 export sales

Speaking of export sales, Hyundai Motor India exported 11,600 units to global markets from its manufacturing facility in India. The carmaker registered a YoY increase of 10.5% in exports, compared to January 2024. 

Hyundai Creta, now electric

The Hyundai Creta, which happens to be the best-selling nameplate in India for the South Korean carmaker, performed its best-ever in the month of January 2025. A part of those sales come from the latest introduction from Hyundai—the Creta Electric—which as the name suggests is a Creta powered by a battery pack. Hyundai sold 18,522 units of the Creta in January 2025, which includes the petrol, diesel, N Line and Electric model lines.

Commenting on HMIL sales, Mr. Tarun Garg, Director and Chief Operating Officer, Hyundai Motor India Limited said, “We have reinforced HMIL’s position as a world-class manufacturing hub registering a 10.5% YoY growth in exports in January on the back of stable demand for our products in the overseas markets. Domestically, our first indigenous electric SUV - the Hyundai CRETA Electric which was launched in Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 on 17th January 2025, has begun its innings on a strong note. It has helped propel brand CRETA to its highest ever domestic monthly sales of 18,522 units, in January 2025.
