Hyundai August 2024 sales in India – Reports 11.6% decline in demand

Hyundai Motor India Limited has been among India’s top-selling car manufacturers for quite some time now. Led by the crowd favourite Creta, Hyundai has been successful in capitalising on its range of SUVs in India. But the month of August came down heavy on Hyundai, with the brand witnessing a massive 11.6% fall in total sales as compared to August 2023. MoM and YoY sales analysis
With reference to the data above, Hyundai Motor India Limited saw a negative growth when compared to both last month’s sales as well as sales from the same month last year. The only statistic that saw an increase was the MoM domestic sales number, but due to a greater fall in exports, the net effect came out to be negative for the brand.
SUV dominant sales
Two-thirds of Hyundai sales in August 2024 came from its lineup of SUVs. Hyundai currently sells five SUVs in India — Creta, Venue, Exeter, Alcazar and Tucson. The majority of its sales in August came from the first three SUVs. Hyundai is yet to release model-wise sales figures for the month of August 2024.
Hyundai global sales
The decline in Hyundai’s sales isn’t a trend restricted to India but can be seen globally. Hyundai Motor saw a 5.5% decrease in sales in the month of August 2024, with 3,32,963 units sold. Out of this, 2,74,876 units were sold outside South Korea while the rest of the sales came from its home country, where it saw a 4.6% increase.

New 2024 Hyundai Alcazar launching on September 9
Hyundai India is set to launch the 2024 Hyundai Alcazar facelift on September 9, 2024. With the launch just around the corner, Hyundai has already commenced bookings for the upcoming SUV. The Alcazar facelift will continue with the same set of powertrain options that include a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
