Hyundai Alcazar updated with adapter for wireless connectivity — Official jugaad

It’s been over several years since the rumours about Hyundai updating its infotainment system for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay have been circulating. However, the solution for this inconvenience faced by the majority of Hyundai owners is far away from one could have comprehended. Instead of rolling out an OTA update enabling wireless connectivity, the carmaker has a cheeky jugaad.

Hyundai Alcazar updated with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay

Hyundai has updated the Alcazar SUV with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay through an official adapter accessory. The Hyundai adapter—that’s said to cost Rs 3800—hooks up to the USB-A port and turns the wired connection into wireless, thereby enabling wireless projection through your phone. The adapter is offered with Alcazar Prestige, Platinum and Signature variants. Since it’s an accessory, we expect this adapter to be offered with other Hyundai models like the Creta, Verna, i20 Tucson, Ioniq 5 that do not come with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

It is worth mentioning that the smaller 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system offered in lower variants of the Venue, i20, Creta and Verna does offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay from the factory, thereby eliminating the need of any adapter. However, the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is on offer in the higher variants of all Hyundai cars, will require the adapter to enable wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Like a regular wireless connection, this adapter will enable users to project phone applications and maps on the head unit of their car’s screen, without having to haggle with any wires.
