Genesis GV80 Coupe Trademarked In India

The Genesis GV80 Coupe SUV design has recently been trademarked for the Indian market. As we mentioned earlier, the GV80 Coupe is Genesis’ flagship coupe SUV that is already on sale in the North American market. The GV80 Coupe, thanks to its unique bodystyle, could serve as a stepping stone for Genesis’ India chapter.

The Genesis GV80 Coupe combines the quintessential Genesis looks with the coupe-esque silhouette, making its entry to the wildly stylish SUVs like the BMW X6, Audi Q8 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe. The Coupe SUV body style is on the rise in the Indian market with new introductions like the Citroen Basalt, Tata Curvv and even the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe. The unique bodystyle will help Genesis to set a halo product into the market before rolling out the more customer-centric offerings.

In addition to the stylish exterior, the Genesis GV80 Coupe also offers tech-savvy interior, featuring a 27-inch wide OLED screen, crystal-like gear selector with shift by wire, advanced driving assistance systems and more. Globally, the Genesis GV80 Coupe comes with three engine options — a 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol, a 3.5-litre turbocharged petrol and the same 3.5-litre engine with 48V supercharger. The supercharged engine produces the maximum output of 415PS and 549Nm of torque.

Genesis India Entry Confirmed?

Hyundai has not officially revealed its plan to launch the Genesis brand in the Indian market. However, multiple reports have claimed that the South-Korean carmaker is gearing up to introduce its premium arm to India. The latest trademark of the GV80 Coupe further reinforces those claims. While there is no official timeline, we expect Hyundai’s Genesis to enter the Indian market by late 2025.
