Ford India is taking strategic steps to stabilise its re-entry into the Indian market. As part of this new approach, the company has announced the discontinuation of the Ford Pass connected car feature. This change will take effect from January 1, 2025.

For existing customers, this means that the FordPass app and its features will no longer function starting the new year. This update might raise concerns for users who rely on these features for convenience.

The FordPass app, first introduced in 2020, provides a range of connected car features for Ford owners. Similar to other carmakers' apps, FordPass allows users to control and monitor specific functions of their vehicle remotely through their smartphone.

By downloading the app on an Android or iOS device, owners can access features like remote start/stop, remote lock/unlock, vehicle health alerts, odometer readings, oil life status, tyre pressure, fuel level, and distance to empty. It also includes tools like vehicle authorization and vehicle locator, among others.

Additionally, the app connects users to services such as roadside assistance, service scheduling, and stolen vehicle assistance. With FordPass, managing your car becomes easier and more convenient, all from the palm of your hand.

However, Ford owners in India can only use the FordPass app until December 31st, 2024. After this date, the app will no longer function in the country. Ford has stated that this change is due to a “global platform transition.”
