New Ford Everest Ready For India Launch? Here Is What We Think About It
- 1Ford Endeavour making a comeback to India
- 2To be called the Everest
- 3To come as an import initially
Ford India pulled the plug on all of its models back in 2021 and shut both of its manufacturing facilities in the country. Popular models like the Ford EcoSport and Endeavour and affordable models like the Figo and Aspire were discontinued in a single day. However, as stated by Ford, the American carmaker didn’t leave the Indian market but took a step back to restrategize its goal plan for the highly competitive market. Reports suggest that Ford is now making a comeback to the Indian market with revised strategy.
Ford Endeavour Making A Comeback
The Ford Endeavour, which was arguably the most favourite model in Ford India’s lineup, is making a comeback, albeit with a new name. Courtesy of a trademark dispute settlement, Ford can call the Endeavour as the Everest, which is the global nameplate for the family SUV too. The new model is likely to be called the Ford Everest, carrying the same set of features, engine options and design.

The Ford Everest is already on sale in several Southeast Asian markets and the same model is likely to be launched in India. Reports claim that the Everest will be initially launched as a direct import, followed by a CKD assembly to bring the costs low. Alongside the Everest, Ford also plans to launch the Ranger pick-up, which is the pick-up truck iteration of the Everest. Ford is yet to officially commit to a launch timeline for the Everest SUV but we expect the Ford Everest India launch to take place in early 2025.
Ford Everest Design
Speaking of the Ford Everest design, the updated Everest sports a boxier front end with a prominent grille that features a horizontal bar extending seamlessly into the new Matrix LED headlights, which are equipped with C-shaped daytime running lights. Its design is more angular, showcasing a more upright front and rear profile along with a pronounced shoulder line. At the back, the vehicle now includes new inverted L-shaped LED tail lights that stretch across the tailgate, connected by a black plastic panel.
Ford Everest Interior And Features
On the inside, the new Ford Everest not only offers a revamped dashboard layout but also a long list of features. The new Everest’s interior prominently features a horizontally oriented touchscreen, measuring 8.0 inches in the lower trims and 12.0 inches in the top-tier model. This screen extends down to the centre console and is flanked by vertical AC vents. Below, there is a tidy arrangement of physical HVAC controls, and the centre console offers practical storage solutions. The interior, characterised by durable materials and clean lines, presents a more rugged appearance compared to the previous model.

Ford Everest Engine Options
The Everest offers a selection of 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre diesel engines. The lineup begins with a 2.0-litre single-turbo four-cylinder engine producing 170hp, while the bi-turbo version of this engine delivers 206hp. At the top of the range is a 3.0-litre V6 turbo-diesel engine generating 246hp and 600Nm of torque. All engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre engines come in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, whereas the 3.0-litre V6 is exclusively available with a full-time 4x4 system. Initially offered as an import, Ford is expected to provide only one variant of the Everest in this market.
