It’s raining Mercedes this year in the country, and the latest entrant from the German automaker is the ultra-luxurious Mercedes Maybach EQS SUV. Launched at a starting price of Rs 2.25 crore, the Maybach EQS SUV is one of the most expensive electric SUVs in the country, second only to the Lotus Eletre. Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV.

 

Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV - What is it?

 

Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV is the brand’s flagship SUV in India, based on the standard Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV but with added bling. The car features multiple Maybach-specific design elements and features that distinguish it from the regular EQS SUV. Available in just one trim – EQS 680 – it comes to India via the CBU route.  

 

Electric powertrain, battery and range

 

The Maybach EQS 680 features a dual-electric motor setup that delivers a combined power output of 658PS and a monstrous 950Nm of torque. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in a claimed 4.4 seconds, and is able to reach a top speed of 210 kph. Power is sent to all four wheels via Mercedes’ 4-Matic system. It gets a 122kWh battery pack and a claimed WLTP range of 611 kilometres.

Design elements

 

The front fascia features a closed-off grille with vertical chrome stripes and chrome-trimmed highlighted windows. The Maybach logo on the D-pillar and the Mercedes hood piece on the bonnet further elevate the SUV's sophisticated styling. It features a sealed black panel at the front that houses radar sensors for advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). The SUV is available in a range of exclusive dual-tone paint schemes, such as high-tech silver/obsidian black, obsidian black/selenite grey, and more. Buyers can also choose from 21-inch or 22-inch forged alloy wheels featuring Maybach lettering.

 

Interior and features

The Maybach EQS 680 features a 15-speaker Burmester 4D surround sound system, ambient lighting, Nappa leather seats, infotainment controls at the rear, powered curtains, refrigerator compartment, and much more stuff. Rear-seat entertainment system consists of two 11.6-inch displays mounted on the front seatbacks, along with an MBUX tablet located at the rear, which can also be used outside the vehicle. The Rear Seat Package Plus includes additional features to enhance comfort. There’s also an Airmatic air suspension with continuously adjustable damping that can increase the ground clearance of the Maybach EQS 680 by up to 35 mm. A 200kW DC fast charger can fuel up the battery from 10 to 80% in just 31 minutes.
