Following a slow start to the Indian market, Citroen India is set to experimenting with an all-new bodystyle in the mass market segment. The new Citroen Basalt is going to be the most affordable offering in the country to offer the coupe SUV bodystyle. In addition to the all-new body style, the Basalt is also going to offer a lot more features than the rest of the Citroen offerings in India. In this article, we share the Citroen Basalt features that have been revealed via the brand’s official teaser video.
Citroen Basalt Features Revealed
The teaser video from Citroen reveals new features of the Basalt that are not seen in Citroen’s other affordable offerings like the C3 and eC3. These features include automatic climate control, front and rear armrests and an LCD instrument cluster. Since Citroen pays heavy focus on comfort, the new Basalt will also offer comfort-oriented headrests for better neck support and head comfort.

Citroen Basalt Design Details
As we mentioned earlier, the Citroen Basalt will be India’s most-affordable coupe SUV, offering a tapering roof line and stylish looks. In addition, it will offer Citroen’s signature exterior details like the twin-chevron logo, split headlights, LED DRLs, dual-tone alloy wheels, squared-off tail lights and side body cladding. While the dimensions of the Basalt are yet to be revealed, it seems to rival the Tata Curvv coupe SUV. On the inside, the Basalt’s cabin design is similar to that of the C3 and C3 Aircross. In addition, it also features the freestanding 10.25-inch instrument cluster with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Citroen Basalt Powertrain Details
The Citroen Basalt is likely to carry the same set of powertrain options that are offered with the C3 hatchback. These engine options include a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol, with both being the 3-cylinder engines. The naturally-aspirated engine produces 82PS of power and 115Nm of torque whereas the turbocharged engine produces 110PS of power and 190Nm of torque. Transmission options could include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, with the latter two exclusive to the turbo petrol engine only.
