Outline

French marque Citroen has unveiled its first coupe SUV in India, the Citroen Basalt. Based on Citroen’s C-cubed platform, which also underpins the C3 range of vehicles, the Basalt will enter the highly-competitive C-segment. Here are top 5 things to know about the soon-to-be-launched Citroen Basalt coupe SUV.

Citroen Basalt Engine & Transmission

The Citroen Basalt gets two options for the engine — a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. These three-cylinder petrol engines are the same ones that are offered on the Citroen C3. The NA engine is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission and generates 80.8bhp and 115Nm of torque. The 108.5bhp turbo-petrol engine can be paired to either a 6-speed manual, generating 190Nm of torque, or a 6-speed torque convertor, generating 205Nm of torque. The Basalt gets more powertrain options than other Citroen cars in India.

Citroen Basalt Design

The French are known for their bold designs, and Citroen is no exception. The Basalt is among the first coupe SUVs to enter the Indian market, bringing in a fresh style of cars for customers to choose from. The Basalt follows an edgy and bulky design language. It gets split-headlights, which are connected to the twin-chevron logo via a double-slat grille. There are clever styling elements thrown here and there that look immaculate. It gets 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels that look appealing, at least in the pictures. For a detailed observation about the Basalt’s design, check out this story

Citroen Basalt Features

Learning from your mistakes is a key to growth. And Citroen seems to be agreeing with the advice. Unlike its under-equipped predecessors, the Citroen Basalt comes with adequate features. These include automatic climate control, 10.2-inch centre-mounted floating touchscreen, 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless charger, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and adjustable under-thigh support for rear seats. On the safety front, it gets 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, TPMS, and hill-hold assist. The Basalt gets a boot space of 470 litres.

Citroen Basalt Colours
