BYD Sealion 7 EV India launch date

BYD Sealion 7 EV India launch is set to take place on February 17, 2024. The BYD Sealion 7 EV bookings are already underway for a token amount of Rs 70,000. It’s interesting to note that as part of a promotion offer, BYD will also contribute Rs 70,000 to the price of the car, thereby benefitting the early birds. In addition, BYD will also offer a complimentary 7kW AC home charger with the Sealion 7 EV. Coming to the deliveries, they will begin from March 7 for the initial 70 cars that have been imported to the country, since the Sealion 7 EV is a CBU import.

Talking about the battery and motor specifications, the Sealion 7 EV packs a battery pack capacity of up to 82.56kWh that channels power to two electric motors, making the Sealion 7 EV an all-wheel-drive SUV. As a result, it can sprint from 0-100kmph in 4.5 seconds. The India-spec BYD Sealion 7 EV will also offer a rear-wheel-drive configuration that will be good for a claimed range of up to 567km on a single charge.

BYD Sealion 7 EV features

Like other BYD models, the BYD Sealion 7 EV will come packed with a slew of features. The key features include a swiveling 15.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, a glass panoramic sunroof, LED headlights and tail lights, 360-degree parking camera, surround sound system and more. On the safety front, the BYD Sealion 7 EV safety features include 11 airbags and a comprehensive advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS) suite.

Once launched, the BYD Sealion 7 EV will go up against the likes of the Kia EV6 facelift, that’s set to be launched in India in March 2025. Furthermore, other rivals to the Sealion 7 EV include Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volvo EX40 and EC40; BMW iX1 LWB and Mercedes-Benz EQA.
