BYD Sealion 05 EV revealed with God’s Eye C ADAS — XEV 9e rival

The BYD Sealion 05 EV has been globally revealed, marking the eighth electric SUV from the carmaker. It is built on an all-new technology platform. The BYD Sealion 05 electric SUV will be available in two variants and comes equipped with the BYD God's Eye C ADAS, along with other well-equipped features. BYD Sealion 05 EV exterior

As seen in the shared photos of the BYD Sealion 05 Electric SUV exterior on the internet, it has a fresh new look that stands apart from its plug-in hybrid counterpart. At the front, it features sleek connected headlamps. Moving down, you'll notice inward-leaning in-tilt position air intakes. Further below, there are air dams and a silver skid plate on the underbelly. The roof is equipped with roof rails and shoulder lines, while the door handles are a flap-type design. 

At the rear, there's a stylish hood spoiler, and the taillights have a striking rectangular shape that wraps around the back. The tail light bar features a design inside and illuminates the BYD name. There's also a reflector and another skid plate at the bottom. As for the BYD Sealion 05 EV colour options, it is said to be available in four shades: Warm Sun White, Muchuan Green, Sea White, and Jun Kiln Gray.

The BYD Sealion 05 Electric dimensions are 4520 mm in length, 1860 mm in width, 1630 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 2720 mm.

BYD Sealion 05 EV interior & features

The BYD Sealion 05 EV interior looks quite similar to the BYD Sealion 7 sold in India. It will be available in two interior shades: Starry Sky Black and Sea Salt Gray. The Sealion 05 EV features a 15.6-inch rotatable infotainment screen, digital driver display, wireless charger, automatic climate control, refrigerator, adjustable driver seat, multiple airbags, God's Eye C ADAS, and more.

One of the most interesting features of the BYD Sealion 05 EV is its God's Eye C ADAS system. This advanced system uses a total of 29 sensors, including 12 cameras, 5 mm-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic radars. Breaking it down, the 12 cameras are set up for different views: 3 cameras for the front view, 4 for the surrounding view, and 5 for the panoramic view. The 5 mm-wave radar at the front can detect objects from a distance of up to 300 meters, while the other radars provide 360-degree coverage.

According to BYD, the system can also help avoid obstacles even when driving at speeds as high as 120 km/h. What’s even more interesting is that the God's Eye system comes in three versions: A, B, and C, with C being the entry-level option.

BYD Sealion 05 EV battery, range, & top speed

The BYD Sealion 05 Electric SUV offers two battery options: a 50 kWh battery with 191PS and a 60.9 kWh battery with 216PS of power. The Sealion 05 EV range is claimed to be 430 km with the smaller battery and 520 km with the larger one. Both battery packs come with a standard rear-wheel-drive layout. The Sealion 05 EV also has an electronically limited top speed of 180 km/h.

BYD Sealion 05 EV launch

The BYD Sealion 05 EV launch is set for March 25th this year in China. However, the BYD Sealion 05 EV India launch is still just an expectation, as there is no confirmation or clear indication yet. In India, the BYD lineup already includes the BYD Atto 3. If the Sealion 05 does arrive in India, it’s likely to happen later in the future.
