Best selling Tata cars in India - Reign of the Tata Punch

Tata Motors seems to find its way to the top of the sales charts with innovative strategies and products. The Tata Punch has consistently been ranking first on the list of Tata’s best selling cars in India. The Nexon takes over the Tiago, and the Tigor has outranked the Curvv, with the Altroz being pushed out of the list altogether. Here’s a list of the best selling Tata cars in India over the past 6 months, including the latest data for February 2025.

Please note that the sales numbers stated above reflect the number of units dispatched to dealers and they might vary from the actual number of units sold by dealerships. Also, these numbers include figures of both ICE-powered vehicles as well as EVs.

Tata Punch

Tata Punch has taken the market with storme, being at the top of not just Tata’s but India’s passenger vehicle sales charts. Tata Motors sold 90,749 units of the Punch in the last six months, which translates to an average of around 15,100 Punches every month. The Punch is available in both petrol and CNG, as well as an electric version.

Tata Nexon

While the Tata Nexon has also been a hot-selling car for Tata, it has been left quite far away by the Punch. Tata sold 85,840 units of the Nexon over the last six months, averaging at around 14,300 units per month. The Tata Nexon is offered with a variety of powertrain options including petrol, diesel, electric, and now CNG too. 

Tata Tiago

While the Tiago might not be talked about much, it has secured the third spot in the list of top selling Tata cars in India when we look at last six months’ data. Tata sold 32,993 Tiagoes during this period, averaging at almost 5,500 units a month. Popular Tata Tiago rivals include Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.

Tata Tigor

The Tigor has made a comeback to this list, with the Curvv being pushed to the fifth spot and the Altroz being totally pushed out of the top 5. Tata Motors sold 27,589 Tigors over the last six months, translating to a monthly average of almost 4,600 units.

Tata Curvv

The Tata Curvv has not been selling very well, clocking 26,779 units over the same period, being pushed to the fifth spot in the list of the highest selling Tata cars in India. The Curvv is available with petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains, with a CNG version under consideration.
