The Maruti Suzuki Fronx is India’s best mileage SUV, with a claimed fuel economy of 22.89kmpl with the naturally-aspirated petrol engine and the AMT gearbox. The same engine with the manual gets a claimed figure of 21.79kmpl. Even the Maruti Fronx variants with the Boosterjet engine are quite efficient. Also, a Maruti Fronx hybrid might also be on the cards, and the same has recently been spotted testing.
Toyota Taisor
Mileage: 22.80kmpl
Powertrain: 1.2-litre NA petrol AMT
Starting price: Rs 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Next in line is the Fronx’s rebadged version — the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor. The car gets a claimed fuel economy figure of 22.80kmpl with the NA petrol automatic (AMT) powertrain, and 21.70kmpl with the NA petrol manual powertrain.
