Here’s the Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology launch story with key details including its price, features, styling, and specs.
New Mercedes-Benz electric G-Class
The ‘Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology’ is the official name for the electric G-Wagen that was revealed in a concept form almost a year back at a dealership in New Delhi. Mercedes-Benz has now launched the production version of the SUV, and will showcase the same at the upcoming Bharat Mobility Auto Expo.
Electric G-Class battery and motor specs
The Mercedes-Benz EQG comes equipped with four electric motors — one for each wheel. The motors produce a combined power output of 587PS and an impressive 1,164Nm of torque. As a result, this boxy SUV can propel itself from standstill to 100kmph in under 4.7 seconds. The quad-motor setup is conjoined to a 116kWh battery, which has a claimed WLTP range of 473 kilometres.

Electric G-Class off road features
The G-Wagon electric gets an independent front suspension and a rigid axle at the rear, staying true to its off-roading legacy. It has a water wading depth of 850mm. This new electric SUV in India also gets a Low Range off-road gearing mode along with a G-Steering function, which enables the SUV to rotate 360° in its place and ensures a smaller turning circle when driving off-road.
G-Wagen electric design
The G 580 is unmistakably a Geländewagen, donning the classic boxy silhouette that is typical to the G-Class. It is easily recognizable as a G-Wagen from any angle you view it. The front grille is surrounded by a thin LED band, which gives it an appealing look. The SUV sits on 18-inch alloy wheels, which come as standard.
G 580 with EQ Technology features and interior
The Mercedes EQG interior is quite similar to the ICE SUVs, featuring a twin-screen setup on the dashboard loaded with the MBUX system. Key electric G-Wagen features include physical HVAC controls, Burmester surround sound system, keyless entry, leather upholstery, 360-degree cameras, and more.
