All Maruti cars to get standard six airbags by 2025 end — Prices to go up
- 1S-Presso, Ignis, Baleno, Fronx, Ertiga and XL6 to get standard six airbags
- 23 point seatbelts to be introduced as a standard fitment
- 3Fronx and Baleno offer six airbags only in the higher trims
Following the dismal results from Global NCAP, Maruti Suzuki isn’t the first brand to come to mind when talking about safety. However, the carmaker wants to change that narrative by moving to standard six airbags in all its cars, adhering to the suggestions made by the government on multiple occasions, in order to make roads safer. Maruti Suzuki has confirmed its plans to introduce standard six airbags in all its cars by the end of 2025.
All Maruti cars with standard six airbags by this year end
Over the past few months, we have seen standard six airbags introduced in models like the Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon-R, Brezza, Grand Vitara and even the Eeco. Moving forward, the carmaker aims to introduce six airbags in models including the S-Presso, Ignis, Ertiga, XL6, Baleno and Fronx. It is worth mentioning that the Baleno and Fronx offer the option of six airbags but only in the higher trims. Therefore, the prices of the Fronx and Baleno are likely to only change for the lower variants upon the introduction of six airbags.

Maruti car prices to go up
Needless to say, the introduction of six airbags will increase the prices of Maruti Suzuki cars. We have already seen price hikes for Alto K10, Celerio, Wagon R etc, owing to the introduction of six airbags as a standard fitment. The biggest price hike introduced was for the Celerio, reaching up to Rs 32,500 for select variants. In addition to the six airbags, these models also received 3-point seatbelts for all passengers.
More 5-star rated Maruti cars incoming?
The new Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the first Maruti Suzuki model to be awarded 5 stars from Global NCAP, reinforcing trust of customers for the brand. With the rest of the Maruti models now receiving six airbags and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, we can expect considerably better safety ratings for its cars in the Global NCAP and Bharat NCAP crash tests, which up until now, have been disappointing to say the least.
