2nd-gen Kia Seltos spotted in India — Everything we know so far

The Seltos is the most-important product for Kia in the Indian market since it’s the one that started it all for the South Korean carmaker. Launched back in 2019, the Seltos has been a very popular model in the C-segment SUV space and the introduction of the Seltos facelift with enhanced design and more features only extended its appeal. However, it faces fierce competition from its own sibling, the Hyundai Creta, which remains to be the best-selling SUV in India. Kia India is now gearing up for the 2nd-generation Kia Seltos SUV that has recently been spotted on test in India. In this article, we share everything we know so far about the 2nd-gen Kia Seltos SUV. 

2nd-gen Kia Seltos design

While we are yet to get our hands on the clear spy images or design sketches, it’s obvious from the details that the new Seltos is set to receive a major design overhaul. The details are of course sparse but we wouldn’t be surprised to see the new Seltos follow the latest design language that we get to see with the new range of Kia EVs like the EV9. The design details could include new LED headlights and connected LED tail lights, similar to that of the latest EVs.

2nd-gen Kia Seltos features

It’s obvious that Kia India will try to cram even more features to the Seltos, which already is a feature-packed SUV. The question is around what more features could Kia manage to cram in while keeping the price quotient intact. Or will Kia exceed the price segment and extend the Seltos’ appeal to a larger bracket and target the premium customers, only time will tell. For now, the Seltos comes packed with features such as a twin-screen setup, a panoramic sunroof, Bose sound system, level-2 ADAS features, ventilated seats, dual-zone climate control, rear sunshades and more. 

2nd-gen Kia Seltos powertrain options

Coming to the powertrain options, the Kia Seltos will carry over the same set of petrol and diesel engine options as offered on the current first-gen facelifted Seltos. What remains to be exciting news is the petrol-hybrid option, which has been talked about of late, amid the concern of meeting CAFE norms. A petrol hybrid powertrain is very likely to be a part of the 2nd-gen Seltos’ suite in order to compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Hyryder. Kia already offers a slew of mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrain options with its cars globally but India being a price-conscious market, would be better off with a strong-hybrid powertrain, which is often regarded as a bridge between the two options mentioned above.

2nd-gen Kia Seltos India launch details

Speaking about its India launch, it’s rather early to guess the launch timeline. The launch of the first gen Seltos took place in 2019, followed by the launch of the facelift in 2023. Logically, the 2nd-gen Kia Seltos India launch should take place in the later part of 2025 or early 2026. For this year, Kia India is already occupied with the new Syros SUV that’s set to slot between the Sonet and Seltos. Furthermore, Kia India also expanded its range with the launch of the Carnival MPV and EV9 electric SUV.
