2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift incoming — Top things to expect

There was much speculation around a facelifted version of the Mahindra Thar 3-door planned to be launched in the near future. Autocar India has just confirmed that the Mahindra Thar Facelift India launch shall take place in 2026. Here are the top things to expect from the upcoming 2026 Mahindra Thar Facelift.

Exterior changes

The facelifted Thar is expected to borrow cues from the new Mahindra Thar Roxx, with a new six-slat front grille, circular LED headlamps and DRLs, LED rear lights, reprofiled bumpers, and a new design for the alloy wheels. The side profile is likely to remain largely unchanged.

Interior changes

A more comprehensive refresh is expected to take place on the inside, with more soft-touch materials and a revised dashboard layout. Key Mahindra Thar features that we expect to be added on the facelifted model include a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, 360-degree cameras, and Level-2 ADAS functionalities.

Powertrain options

The powertrains are unlikely to see any major change, and we expect the same set of options to be carried on the new Mahindra Thar. These include a 1.5-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual, a 2.2-litre diesel engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor, and a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor. While the smaller diesel engine is only offered in an RWD configuration, the bigger diesel engine comes with 4WD, and the petrol engine can be specced in either of the two configurations.

Upcoming Mahindra Thar Facelift launch timeline
