2024 Mini Cooper S: Design & Feature Updates

The new model of the Cooper S is already available in the global markets. However, it’ll soon launch in India. Some of the key changes made to this iteration include a new design with a revised fascia. While the overall silhouette is identical to the outgoing car, the front grille is now less curvy. Additionally, the LED headlights are in a new pattern. Onto the side, it now gets a brand-new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels. However, it is the rear that has the utmost changes. A new set of arrowhead LED taillights has replaced the old rectangular design. Moreover, the bumper is revised, providing an uplifting and bulky stance.

The cabin too has also been revised with minimal yet subtle changes. While it is evident that the designers did not want to fiddle with the beautiful dashboard, it now gets a new steering wheel and buttons on it. The major update is the 9.45-inch circular infotainment screen which is an industry-first. It supports wireless connectivity and has a plethora of personalization features. Another major change is the gear shift lever that has been placed underneath the infotainment screen now.

Engine, Price, and Rivals

The new Cooper S is powered by the same 2-litre turbo-petrol engine as the outgoing model. However, its state of tune is now different as it produces a higher power of 204hp and a higher torque of 300Nm. This has resulted in quick performance figures. The new Cooper S can sprint from 0-100 kmph in a claimed 6.6s time. This is faster than the outgoing model.

Speaking of the price, it is suspected that these new changes will result in a price hike. The current model is priced at Rs 42.70 lakh ex-showroom, India. The current rivals of the Cooper S in India are the Audi Q3, Mercedes-Benz A-class, and BMW 2-Series.
