Kia’s long-awaited EV9 is finally making its debut in India on October 3rd, and it’s set to be the automaker’s flagship electric SUV. As the launch date approaches, Kia isn’t keeping secrets about this model. They've revealed details about the EV9’s battery, performance, range, and more. A sneak peek at the Kia EV9’s design
The Kia EV9 will embrace a futuristic design with a boxier look compared to the outgoing EV6. Its front will feature L-shaped LED DRLs and a digital pattern lighting grille, paired with Intelligent Ice Cube LED projection headlamps. The EV will sport a prominent roof with roof rails and a sleek side profile, while the rear will showcase a Y-shaped LED taillight and a sporty roof spoiler. Overall, the design carries over the stylish GT Line elements, giving the EV9 a bold and modern vibe.

Under the hood?
Under the hood, the EV9 will come with a 99.8 kWh battery, generating an impressive 384.23ps and 700nm of torque. It will have an all-wheel drive for better traction. The range is expected to be around 561 km, according to ARAI. This electric vehicle will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.3 seconds and support DC fast charging, which can boost the battery from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes.
More expanded size compared to EV6
The Kia EV9 will be available in five stylish colours: Snow White Pearl, Ocean Blue, Pebble Grey, Panthera Metal, and Aurora Black Pearl. Inside, you can choose between two seat upholstery options: White & Black or Brown & Black. This new model measures 5015 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, 1780 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3100 mm. Compared to the Kia EV6, the EV9 is 320 mm longer, 99 mm wider, 210 mm higher, and its wheelbase is 200 mm longer.

What to expect from the Kia EV9's interior & safety features
The upcoming Kia EV9 will feature a 12.3-inch HD touchscreen for navigation that's compatible with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will also have a 12.3-inch HD display for the instrument cluster and a 5-inch HD HVAC control panel. Other highlights include a head-up display, an 18-way power driver’s seat with a memory function, and a 3-zone automatic temperature control. You'll also find a wireless charger with a cooling function, a 14-speaker audio system, six C-type USB ports, and a digital rearview mirror.
On the safety front, the EV9 will come loaded with features like 10 airbags, an anti-lock brake system, electronic stability control, and downhill brake control. It will also include front, side, and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and more. Plus, it will be equipped with Level 2 ADAS, offering 21 autonomous safety features for enhanced protection.
How much will it cost & who's competing?
This upcoming 7-seater Kia EV9 is expected to be priced in the premium range, starting around Rs 90 lakh and going up to Rs 1.21 crore. It will compete directly with other high-end models like the BMW iX, Volvo EX90, and Lexus RX, among others.
