Under the hood
The BYD eMAX 7 has been spotted in India before, and it's likely that a 7-seater version will be available soon. Internationally, this model comes with two battery options: a 55.4 kWh unit and a larger 71.8 kWh unit. The smaller battery offers a range of about 420 km, delivering 165PS of power and 310Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the larger battery provides 207PS and the same torque of 310Nm, with an impressive range of 530 km. There’s a lot of anticipation that these battery options will also be available in the Indian version of the eMAX 7.
Features, pricing expectations, & Rivals
The upcoming BYD eMAX 7 is likely to feature a design similar to the international Hong Kong model, the BYD M6. Inside, it’s expected to include a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, PM2.5 filtration, ventilated front seats, a wireless charger, and a panoramic glass roof, among other features. For safety, it’s expected to have six airbags, a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, and advanced safety systems like ABS, electronic stability control, and all-wheel disc brakes. It’s also anticipated to offer Level 2 ADAS with intelligent cruise control, collision warnings, and blind spot detection.
The BYD eMAX 7 is expected to be priced between Rs 25 lakh and 31 lakh, and it will be a completely built unit (CBU). In terms of competition, it presents an affordable alternative to the Toyota Innova Hycross, Toyota Innova Crysta, and Maruti Invicto.
