Upcoming Skoda Octavia RS India launch confirmed at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025

The Skoda Octavia RS has been the relatively-affordable sports sedan in India ever since it was first launched in the country. While the last generation was brought here, there were just 200 units (of the RS 245 iteration), all of which had already been spoken for even before it was showcased at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. Good news is that the new generation Octavia RS is also coming to our shores, and we’ll get our first looks of the car at the upcoming Auto Expo 2025. Here’s everything we know so far.

Skoda Octavia RS 

The Octavia RS, erstwhile the Octavia vRS, is the performance version of Skoda’s popular sedan — Skoda Octavia. This has been confirmed by Skoda Auto India’s Brand Director, and is expected to come here via the CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) route.

Skoda Octavia RS engine details

The new Skoda Octavia RS is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine that has been tuned to produce a maximum power of 269PS and 370Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It also gets a different exhaust system than the regular Octavia.

Octavia RS styling upgrades

The RS-spec Octavia gets lots of exterior elements that distinguish it from the standard sedan. It features a blacked-out grille, larger air intakes, vRS badges at the front and rear, a rear lip spoiler, and a different design for the alloy wheels. The RS also sits 15mm lower than the regular Octavia.

Octavia RS interior enhancements

The design changes aren’t limited to the exterior, but to the inside of the cabin too. There are red inserts throughout the cabin, coupled with red ambient lighting. The sports seats come finished in black upholstery with red stitching. The steering wheel also features a vRS badge at the bottom.

2025 Skoda Octavia vRS India launch

The Octavia vRS will be introduced in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo that is scheduled to take place from 17-22 January 2024. Skoda is also showcasing a handful of other cars that it plans to launch in the country. These upcoming Skoda cars in India include the new generation Kodiaq, new generation Superb, and probably the Enyaq and the recently launched Kylaq.
