Upcoming Kia Carens EV to be showcased at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo?

Both Hyundai and Kia have been working on their first mass-market EVs for the Indian market — Hyundai Creta Electric and Kia Carens EV, respectively. While Hyundai has revealed the Creta EV ahead of its official reveal at the 2025 Auto Expo, Kia hasn’t been very vocal about its upcoming MPV. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming Kia Carens EV.

Upcoming Kia Carens EV

The Kia Carens EV will join the lineup of electric Kia cars in India that currently consists of the Kia EV6 and Kia EV9. The key differentiator of the Carens EV will be that it will be the brand’s first mass-market EV in India and will be assembled here in India as well.

2025 electric Kia Carens design

The Kia Carens electric has been spied testing a couple of times, and the overall proportions of the MPV do not seem to be vastly different from its ICE counterpart. The test mule featured a closed front grille and a different style for the headlamps, which might also make their way to the upcoming Kia Carens facelift (ICE).

Electric Kia Carens battery and motor specs

Kia has been silent about the upcoming Kia Carens powertrain details, but it won’t be irrational to expect the same battery and motors specs that the upcoming Hyundai Creta Electric will get. These include an electric motor that produces 135PS of power with the 42kWh battery pack, and 171PS with the 51.4kWh battery pack.

New Kia Carens EV expected price and rivals

Expect the Kia Carens electric to be priced northwards of Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival cars like the new BYD eMax 7 and any other new electric MPVs in India that might be launched in the near future.

Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025

Kia hasn’t confirmed showcasing the upcoming Kia Carens EV at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025, and we don’t think it will do so. Kia is expected to showcase the new Kia Syros though, along with the Kia EV6 facelift that is already on sale in certain global markets.
